Craig Travel started in Workington around 40 years ago by Shirley Craig. Around 25 years ago it was bought by Stewart Phillips. 16 Years ago it was purchased by Andrew Nelson who still owns it to this day. Andrew also owns Admiral Travel in Altrincham, Cheshire. Craig travel thrived under the new ownership and outgrew its premises so the decision to move to Murray Road was taken. We continued to grow, so chose to open another branch in Cockermouth, initially on Main Street before moving to our current premises on Station Road. We sell everything, package holidays, flights only, Coach holidays, Ski holidays, Escorted tours, Cruises, Long Haul, Accommodation only, Attraction tickets, Travel Insurance and Foreign Exchange. All our holidays are financially protected, and because we are part of the Hays Travel Group (UK's biggest independent travel group) we have the best prices on all our holidays, allowing us to confidently state ìWe will not be beaten on price!
Meet the staff.
Nicola Shepherd. Shop Manage. Nicola has been in travel for 30 years having started at Pickfords Travel, Going Places then Craig Travel. Nicola is well travelled citing her favourite places as New York, Las Vegas, Jamaica and of course Benidorm. Nicola still has plenty of places on the wish list including Thailand, Barbados and more of the USA.
Bronya Hetherington. Assistant shop manager. Bronya joined us after the collapse of Thomas Cook where she had been for many years. Bronya loves Turkey, Greece and Spain having travelled there on multiple occasions. Bronya's wish list includes Mauritius, Antigua and Australia.
Sarah Dixon-Bell. Sarah joined Tui (Lunn Poly) from school before joining Craig Travel about 10 years ago. Sarah loves Italy, Ibiza and Las Vegas and looking forward to visiting the Maldives, Dubai and Lapland at some stage in the near furture.
Harrison Linford. Harrison joined us as our modern apprentice in January of this year. Harrison has shown a real understanding of how we work and our travel systems. Harrisons favourite places he has visited are Croatia, Gran Canaria and Florida. Harrison wants to see Mexico, Japan and South Africa.
Tracey Tomlinson. Tracey was well travelled prior to joining us, and has fitted into the team well. Tracey's favouite places are Mexico, New York, Turkey and Australia.Tracey hopes to visit Cuba, San Francisco and India in the next few years.
